On the BBC 2 programme “It's Not Easy Being Green”, Dick Strawbridge used crushed glass (cullet) as a heat sink in his green house. This stored the heat of collected in the green house during the day and disapated it at night keeping the green house warm. How does it work? News:
In 2000, RMC (UK) launched Glasphalt, a new sub-surface road material consisting of 30% crushed glass mixed with limestone. An estimated 12,000 tonnes of glass bottles could be used in the new material each year. More than 1 million bottles are required for each mile of road.
